Quantitative aspects of infrared thermographic detection of water in aviation honeycomb panels are discussed in the framework of both 1D analytical and 3D numerical models. A criterion for the transition from 3D to 1D test geometry is introduced, and the influence of the honeycomb cell structure on the modeling results is demonstrated. Optimal test conditions are formulated both theoretically and experimentally in two practical cases where the force of gravity causes the water to be against the facesheet at the bottom of the cells or where a water gap separates the water from the top facesheet.

Diagnostic tools for understanding the edge plasma behavior in fusion devices are essential. The main focus of the present work is to present the infra-red (IR) diagnostics installed on Tokamak Energy's spherical tokamak (ST40) and the IR thermographic inversion tool, Functional Analysis of Heat Flux (FAHF). FAHF is designed for multi-2D thermographic inversions within the divertor tiles using the finite difference method and an explicit time stepping scheme.

Neonatal sepsis results in significant morbidity and mortality, but early detection is clinically challenging. In a neonatal rat model of endotoxic shock, we characterised unique infrared thermographic (IRT) profiles in skin temperature that could identify risk of later mortality. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women worldwide, and early detection can help reduce the death rate. Infrared thermography has gained popularity as a non-invasive and rapid method for detecting this pathology and can be further enhanced by applying neural networks to extract spatial and even temporal data derived from breast thermographic images if they are acquired sequentially. In this study, we evaluated hybrid convolutional-recurrent neural network (CNN-RNN) models based on five state-of-the-art pre-trained CNN architectures coupled with three RNNs to discern tumor abnormalities in dynamic breast thermographic images.
