The use of antiseptics in wound care: Critique II.

J Wound Care

Director, Wound Healing Research Unit, University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff.

Published: January 1996

This frequently referenced paper is a review of the use of antiseptics and antimicrobials in wound healing. It is often used in support of arguments for banning antiseptics. Careful reading suggests that this is a misinterpretation. The authors, while accepting the ritualistic approach of many clinicians in treating chronic wounds, state that there is a need to question procedure, particularly in relation to the use of antiseptics and antimicrobials.
