Nova Southeastern Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine - TBR, Clearwater, FL, USA.
Background: Research heavily suggests that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), vital for neuronal growth and plasticity, and cholecystokinin (CCK), a satiety hormone that regulates BDNF levels, are altered in Alzheimer's Disease pathophysiology. Factors such as dysbiosis of gut microbiota and poor food habits may affect CCK and BDNF release and brain function. The objective is to evaluate the effects of dietary habits, gut microbiota, and exercise on BDNF and CCK release in Alzheimer's Disease patients.

Background: The escalating prevalence of dementia in Africa, propelled by rapidly ageing population, necessitates innovative approaches to raise awareness and address associated challenges. The prevalent misconception of dementia as a result of witchcraft or wizardry is a challenge, and the media acts as a key agent in dispelling such myths. By reaching divers audiences, the media reinforces the notion that dementia is not confined to Africa alone but it is a global concern.

Background: Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST) is a relatively rare type of stroke, accounting for less than 3% of all stroke cases, and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in young females. However, when promptly diagnosed and treated, it can have favorable outcomes. Several knowledge gaps remain regarding pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of CVST, so critical assessment of past and present research could help close these gaps or establish targeted future research goals.

Introduction: The ability of healthcare, community and public health systems to effectively implement and disseminate research innovations depends on contextual factors at multiple interconnected levels of influence (eg, the innovation, individual, provider/implementor, organisation and health system). Recently, there has been an increase in the development of complex interventions designed to target multiple levels, designed for or adapted to the context in which they are delivered. Two concepts from complex systems thinking have been increasingly used to operationalise such interventions-core functions (theory and evidence-driven purposes of interventions) and forms (adaptable activities that perform each core function).

Introduction: Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) is currently the gold standard for assessing glycaemic control in diabetes, given the established relationship with microvascular and macrovascular complications in this condition. However, HbA1c is affected by non-glycaemic factors, while also failing to provide data on hypoglycaemic exposure and glucose variability, which are associated with adverse vascular outcomes. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-derived glucose metrics provide a more comprehensive assessment of glycaemia, but their role in predicting future vascular complications remains unclear.
