Bistable [2]rotaxanes in which the affinities of the two stations can be reversed form the basis of molecular shuttles. Gaining quantitative information on such rotaxanes in which the ring distribution between the two stations is largely nonsymmetric has proven to be very challenging. Herein, we report on two independent experimental methodologies, based on luminescence lifetime measurements and acid-base titrations, to determine the relative populations of the two co-conformations of a [2]rotaxane. The assays yield convergent results and are sensitive enough to measure an equilibrium constant (K≈4000) out of reach for NMR spectroscopy. We also estimate the ring distribution constant in the switched (deprotonated) state (K'<10 ), and report the highest positional efficiency for stimuli-induced shuttling to date (>99.92 %). Finally, our results show that the pK of the pH-responsive station depends on the ring affinity of the pH-insensitive station, an observation that paves the way for the design of new artificial allosteric systems.

The coffee-ring effect, caused by uneven deposition of colloidal particles in perovskite precursor solutions, leads to poor uniformity in perovskite films prepared through large-area printing. In this work, the surface of SnO is roughened to construct a Wenzel model, successfully achieving a super-hydrophilic interface. This modification significantly accelerates the spreading of the perovskite precursor solution, reducing the response delay time of perovskite colloidal particles during the printing process.

Through the ferrite single-phase parameters of M50 bearing steel obtained based on nanoindentation experiments and the representative volume element (RVE) model established based on the real microstructure of M50, this paper established a multiscale finite element model for the cold ring rolling of M50 and verified its accuracy. The macroscale and mesoscale flow behaviors of the ring during the cold rolling deformation process were examined and explained. The macroscopic flow behavior demonstrated that the stress distribution was uniform following rolling.

Climate-driven changes in high-elevation forest distribution and reductions in snow and ice cover have major implications for ecosystems and global water security. In the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem of the Rocky Mountains (United States), recent melting of a high-elevation (3,091 m asl) ice patch exposed a mature stand of whitebark pine () trees, located ~180 m in elevation above modern treeline, that date to the mid-Holocene (c. 5,950 to 5,440 cal y BP).

This study proposes a switching operating mode that alternates between microbial fuel cell (MFC) and microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) to restore the biofilm activity and organic pollutant degradation capacity in bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) during prolonged operation. After the model switching, the toluene degradation kinetics in BESs equipped with graphite sheet (GS) and polyaniline@carbon nanotubes (PANI@CNTs) bioanodes were elevated by 2.10 and 3.
