The potential threat of soil microplastics (MPs, particle sizes smaller than 5 mm) to the agricultural environment and food security production has become a hot issue, but there are few systematic studies on the characteristics and influencing factors of MP pollution in agricultural soil in China. Based on the data of soil MPs and related environmental factors (temperature, precipitation, soil pH, and organic carbon) and social and economic factors (permanent population, gross regional product per capita, gross industrial product per capita, and cultivated land area per capita) extracted from 6 694 samples from 85 published studies from 2020 to 2023, meta-analysis was performed. The characteristics of MPs pollution in agricultural soil and the key factors affecting the accumulation of MPs in soil in six administrative regions of China were analyzed.

Alga-dominated geothermal spring communities in Yellowstone National Park (YNP), USA, have been the focus of many studies, however, relatively little is known about the composition and community interactions which underpin these ecosystems. Our goal was to determine, in three neighboring yet distinct environments in Lemonade Creek, YNP, how cells cope with abiotic stressors over the diurnal cycle. All three environments are colonized by two photosynthetic lineages, and , both of which are extremophilic Cyanidiophyceae red algae.

Organic pollutants, especially dyes, are seriously hazardous to the aquatic system and humans due to their toxicity, and carcinogenic or mutagenic properties. In this study, a biochar prepared from agricultural waste (pecan shells) via pyrolysis was applied to remove the dye pollutant Congo Red from wastewater to avoid a negative effect to the ecosystem. This study also investigated the effect of preparation conditions (temperature and heating rate) on the physicochemical properties and the adsorption performance of biochars.

Endometrial cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignancies, and while early-stage cases are highly treatable, recurrent or advanced EC remains challenging to manage. Immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitors, has revolutionized treatment approaches in oncology, and its application in EC has shown promising results. Key to immunotherapy efficacy in EC is the tumor's mismatch repair status, with MMR-deficient tumors demonstrating a higher tumor mutational burden and increased PD-L1 expression, making them more susceptible to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) such as pembrolizumab, durvalumab, and dostarlimab.

Background: In the first-line treatment of elderly patients with advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with high programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression (tumor proportion score ≥ 50%), this study aimed to determine whether pembrolizumab monotherapy (MONO) or pembrolizumab plus platinum-based chemotherapy (COMB) should be selected.
Methods: We performed a retrospective multicenter study (sub-analysis of the HOT/NJLCG2001 trial) of 299 patients with NSCLC with high PD-L1 expression who received MONO or COMB as the first-line treatment between December 2018 and January 2020. We selected patients aged 75 years and older and assessed the clinical efficacy and toxicity.
