Introduction: Ameloblastomas are rare head and neck tumors, and yet the most common odontogenic neoplasms. They account for 1% and 11% of all head and neck and odontogenic tumors respectively. Embryologically, they originate from remnants of odontogenic epithelium. Their aggressive, destructive nature, as well as their anticipated high rate of recurrence, even after en bloc resection, poses a surgical predicament.
Presentation: We present a case of a 56 year-old Asian female with a multi-recurrent invasive ameloblastoma. Initially, the lesion was mandibular in location for which she underwent a mandiblectomy. Later on, she presented with a maxillary ameloblastoma with invasion of both the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus and the floor of the orbit. The patient was operated twice and histopathology confirmed a cystic type recurrent ameloblastoma. A year later, she came with recurrent maxillary ameloblastoma and a maxillectomy was done. However, histopathology revealed a follicular ameloblastoma. Three years later, she presented with a retro-orbital ameloblastoma with infiltration to the temporal muscles. The patient was operated and the histopathologic examination revealed a partially cystic lesion with no malignant transformation.
Conclusion: This case discusses available treatment options and emphasizes on the importance of long-term patient follow-up due to the biological behavior of ameloblastoma.

Background: Some long-term hemodialysis patients suffer from multi-recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome because amyloid originating from β-microglobulin continues to be deposited mainly in the flexor tendons, tendon sheaths and flexor retinaculum during maintenance hemodialysis. These amyloid deposits inside carpal canal (tunnel) tissues increase carpal canal pressure and this leads to compression of the median nerve. When multi-recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome occurs, previous operative scarring of soft tissue may prohibit further enlargement of the carpal canal even if any carpal canal decompression procedure is used.

Objectives: To study the relationship between cost-effectiveness and budgetary impact the application of a neoadjuvant chemo-hyperthermia treatment on 15 patients with NMI multi-recurrent bladder cancer and/or whose risk of recurrence and progression is medium-high, compared with the standard neoadjuvant BCG treatment, has had on the Hospital Comarcal de Monforte de Lemos (Lugo).
Methods: A model was designed from an SNS perspective with a temporary horizon of three years to compare the costs of applying neoadjuvant chemo-hyperthermia on the patients of the clinical test (8 instillations weekly of 80 mg Mitomycin C recirculating at 43 C for an hour prior to carrying out a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor) with the costs of treating 15 patients with the same risk profile with the standard adjuvant treatment of BCG (control group). The effective available costs corresponding to drugs, disposables and those relative to TURBT, cold biopsy and tumor relapse were included.
