In this article our attempts to tune the color of luminescence within a new class of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) active tellurophenes is reported along with computational details that include spin-orbit coupling effects so as to better understand the nature of emission in the phosphorescent tellurophene (B-Te-6-B). Despite not meeting some of the initial synthetic targets, the emission within a borylated tellurophene can be altered with the addition of an N-heterocyclic carbene.

The DNA adducts formed by the alkenylbenzene natural products, safrole (SF) and methyleugenol (MEG) are primarily attributed to their reported carcinogenic properties. Herein, we report a concise strategy to access -Ac-SF/MEG-dA phosphoramidites, which were selectively incorporated into DNA oligonucleotides by solid-phase DNA synthesis. The replication studies using human polymerases hpolκ and hpolη showed that both polymerases replicate these adducts error-free, which indicates that these polymerases do not contribute to the adduct-induced mutagenicity.

A composite nanomaterial of Prussian blue@gold nanoparticles (PB@Au) with catalytic and photothermal properties was proposed, which combined with anti-matrix interference aptamers to achieve robust specificity and sensitivity in the detection of Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium). The detection probe, PB@Au-Aptamer (PB@Au-Apt), was designed to exhibit high specificity for the target and catalyze the signal generation to produce a color change, thereby enabling rapid detection.
