Background: Leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) is a devastating complication of cancer that is difficult to treat. Thus, early diagnosis is essential for LM patients. However, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cytology has low sensitivity, and imaging approaches are ineffective.

HVEM as a Tumor-Intrinsic Regulator in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: Suppression of Metastasis via Glycolysis Inhibition and Modulation of Macrophage Polarization.

Pharmacol Res

January 2025

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Shanghai Chest Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai 200030, China; Shanghai Institute of Thoracic Oncology, Shanghai 200030, China. Electronic address:

Herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM) is a novel costimulatory molecule which mediates stimulatory or inhibitory signals in immune responses which makes it an attractive target in cancer therapeutics. However, the role of tumor cell intrinsic HVEM on tumor biology remains largely unknown. In this study, We demonstrated that CK+HVEM+ tumor correlates with better survival using Multiplex immuno histochemistry (mIHC) in Human Lung Adenocarcinoma Tissue microarray.

Choroid plexus-targeted viral gene therapy for alpha-mannosidosis, a prototypical neurometabolic lysosomal storage disease.

Section on Translational Neuroscience, Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institutes of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892, USA.

The choroid plexuses (CP) are highly vascularized structures that project into the ventricles of the vertebrate brain. The polarized epithelia of the CP produce cerebrospinal fluid by transporting water and ions into the ventricles from the blood and normally secrete a large number of proteins. We assessed the feasibility of selective CP transduction with recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy vectors for treatment of lysosomal storage disease (LSD), a broad category of neurometabolic illness associated with significant burdens to affected patients and their families.

Article Synopsis
  • A new Sonogel-Carbon (SNGC) electrode, enhanced with the amino acid l-leucine, has been created for detecting homovanillic acid (HVA) effectively.
  • Electrochemical techniques like cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy confirmed the performance of the SNGC-Leu electrode, which demonstrated a linear detection range for HVA from 0.5 μM to 50 μM and a detection limit of 0.4 μM.
  • The SNGC-Leu sensor showed high accuracy in real applications, successfully measuring HVA in human urine and synthetic cerebrospinal fluid with impressive recovery rates.
