Personalized lung cancer therapy has progressed by targeting several oncogenic aberrations that drive lung carcinogenesis. Recent advances in gene analysis technologies, including next-generation sequencing that yields large amounts of genomic data, have greatly contributed to this progress. In addition, immune checkpoint blockade therapy has become available in Japan, and extensive searches for biomarkers predictive of therapeutic response have been carried out. "Clinical sequencing" which analyzes aberrations in a set of therapy-related genes in patient cancer specimens, has been actively conducted in Japan and other countries. This will help to establish more efficient and effective precision cancer medicine based on gene information. Herein, we summarize the recent progress in personalized lung cancer therapy research, including clinical sequencing.

Objectives: To investigate the image quality and diagnostic performance with ultra-low dose dual-layer detector spectral CT (DLSCT) by various reconstruction techniques for evaluation of pulmonary nodules.
Materials And Methods: Between April 2023 and December 2023, patients with suspected pulmonary nodules were prospectively enrolled and underwent regular-dose chest CT (RDCT; 120 kVp/automatic tube current) and ultra-low dose CT (ULDCT; 100 kVp/10 mAs) on a DLSCT scanner. ULDCT was reconstructed with hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR), electron density map (EDM), and virtual monoenergetic images at 40 keV and 70 keV.

Introduction: In response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in March 2020 and required adherence to infection control measures and patient and staff safety, an integrated respiratory team (IRT) developed guideline-based templates to support the team in teleconsultation reviews of their patients. Patients had been diagnosed with sleep disordered breathing, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, interstitial lung disease or had oxygen assessment needs.
Methods: Nine IRT members collaboratively developed content for the templates to assist in clinical reviews.

Purpose: Recent research (Li et al. 2021) suggests an upregulated expression and activation of H1 receptors on macrophages in the tumor microenvironment, and concomitant H1-antihistamine use is associated with improved overall survival in patients with lung and skin cancers receiving immunotherapy. Therefore, we retrospectively evaluated the impacts of H1-antihistamine use in cancer patients during immunotherapy.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by progressive and incurable airflow obstruction and chronic inflammation. Both TGF-β1 and CXCL8 have been well described as fundamental to COPD progression. DNA methylation and histone acetylation, which are well-understood epigenetic mechanisms regulating gene expression, are associated with COPD progression.

Background: Medicaid expansion began in 2014 after passage of the Affordable Care Act; however, the impact and durability of the effects on lung cancer treatment utilization are poorly defined. We aimed to determine whether there is a persistent difference in utilization of lung resection, lung biopsy, and nonoperative treatment of lung cancer in states participating in Medicaid expansion compared with states that are not.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was completed analyzing the difference in utilization between Medicaid expansion states and non-expansion states in 2012-2013, 2016-2017, and 2019.
