Several azine derivatives have been prepared and structurally characterized by spectroscopic and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Two of them, viz. naphthalene based (A10) and anthracene based (A11) show fluorescence enhancement in the presence of Ag in aqueous-methanol. Moreover, A11 efficiently tracks Agin vitro endophytic bacteria infected rice root tissue. Experimental results have been substantiated by theoretical DFT calculations.

The rapid and selective identification of microorganisms is of great significance for clinical therapy applications. To develop high performance probes for microbe determination, we systemically constructed series aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminogens by modulating the structural planarity, the basicity of functional group, the length of linker moiety and the hydrophobicity based on our previous work. The detail structure-property relationship study based on experimental and theoretical observation revealed that: i) the planar skeleton is essential for probe insertion towards the cell wall via van n der Waals' force.

Leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis rank among lethal vector-borne parasitic diseases that are endemic in tropical and sub-tropical countries. There are currently no preventive vaccines against them, and once diagnosed, a handful of less effective drugs clinically accessible are the only therapeutic options offered to treat these ailments. And although curable, the eradication and elimination of these diseases are hampered by the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains of the causal pathogens.

N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have attracted significant attention due to their strong σ-donating capabilities, as well as their transition-metal-like reactivity towards small molecules. However, their interaction with diazoalkanes remains understudied. In this manuscript, we explore the reactivity of a series of stable carbenes, encompassing a wide range of electronic properties, with MeSiCHN.

We report a newly synthesized 7-diethylamino-4-hydroxycoumarin tagged symmetrical azine derivative (SHC), with an interesting color transformation from yellowish green to orange via aggregation induced red shifted emissive (117 nm) feature in THF-HO mixture. Interestingly, the single crystal X-ray analysis of this molecule demonstrates that two hydroxycoumarin moieties were present in azine unit, among them one of the coumarin units was exist as enol form and another one transferred to keto form via ground state proton transfer reaction. The optical responses of the compound in different solvents exposed the observation of dual emissive bands which corresponds to the presence of ESIPT phenomenon in SHC molecule.

The transition metal-catalyzed direct coupling reactions involving electron-rich Fischer carbene species are largely underdeveloped and remain a big challenge. Here, a direct coupling reaction of azoles and azine N-oxides is reported with Fischer copper carbene species bearing an α-siloxy group i, which can be in situ generated from acylsilanes catalytically under photoirradiation and redox-neutral conditions. This coupling reaction between electron-rich α-siloxy Fischer Cu-carbene species with hard carbanion nucleophiles may undergo a bimetallic relay process, which is confirmed by the kinetic analysis and in situ NMR analysis.
