Sushruta has been regarded as one of the pioneers of surgery. He performed procedures with crude surgical instruments that paved the path for today's operations. However, his existence is shrouded in myth and mystery. Sushruta belonged to a rich heritage of learned scholars and practiced and taught surgery at Benares University around 600BC. His work is assembled into a monumental thesis, possibly the first text book on surgery, the 'Sushruta Samhita' where he describes surgical instruments, procedures, illnesses, medicinal plants and preparation, dissection and the study of human anatomy, embryology and fractures. Sushruta is perhaps best known for the nasal reconstruction flap which is still used in different versions. For all his contributions, he has been aptly titled 'Father of Plastic Surgery'.

Objectives: Minimally invasive CABG is making positive strides in the evolution of coronary artery bypass surgery. We carried out a retrospective study of the efficacy and outcomes of the usage of bilateral internal thoracic arteries in MICS CABG patients over a 6 year period using primary (MACCE) and secondary outcome measures and also carried out a subgroup analysis of patients with diabetes and methodology of revascularization, and with analogy to the SYNTAX trial of the relative risk.
Methods: Nine hundred and forty patients underwent multivessel MICS CABG via a left mini-thoracotomy from August 2011 to September 2017 and complete revascularization was done using the left internal thoracic artery-right internal thoracic artery Y (LITA-RITA Y) composite conduit.

The syndrome of bladder neck obstruction, often leading to retention of urine, in ageing men has been recognised since earliest times. Catheterisation for the relief of urinary retention was used by the ancient Chinese and Egyptians and is described in the writings of the Indian surgeon Susrata, who flourished in Benares sometime after Christ. Although many of these cases were the result of urethral stricture from trauma or gonorrhoea, we can assume that, in older men, the cause was often benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH).
