The electrocatalysis of dopamine has been studied using a cobalt hexacyanoferrate film (CoHCFe)-modified glassy carbon electrode. Using a rotating disk CoHCFe-modified electrode, the reaction rate constant for dopamine was found to be 3.5 × 105 cm³ mol s at a concentration of 5.0 × 10 mol L. When a Nafion film is applied to the CoHCFe-modified electrode surface a high selectivity for the determination of dopamine over ascorbic acid was obtained. The analytical curve for dopamine presented linear dependence over the concentration range from 1.2 × 10 to 5.0 × 10 mol L with a slope of 23.5 mA mol L and a linear correlation coefficient of 0.999. The detection limit of this method was 8.9 × 10-6 mol L and the relative standard deviation for five measurements of 2.5 × 10-4 mol L dopamine was 0.58%.

O-GlcNAcylation is a post-translational modification characterized by the covalent attachment of a single moiety of GlcNAc on serine/threonine residues in proteins. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), the rate-limiting step enzyme in the catecholamine synthesis pathway and responsible for production of the dopamine precursor, L-DOPA, has its activity regulated by phosphorylation. Here, we show an inverse feedback mechanism between O-GlcNAcylation and phosphorylation of TH at serine 40 (TH pSer40).

Parkinson Disease (PD) is a complex neurological disorder attributed by loss of neurons generating dopamine in the SN per compacta. Electroencephalogram (EEG) plays an important role in diagnosing PD as it offers a non-invasive continuous assessment of the disease progression and reflects these complex patterns. This study focuses on the non-linear analysis of resting state EEG signals in PD, with a gender-specific, brain region-specific, and EEG band-specific approach, utilizing recurrence plots (RPs) and machine learning (ML) algorithms for classification.

Tityus serrulatus accident promote vast symptomatology related to toxins of the venom, which leads to a massive release of neurotransmitters, notably dopamine, affecting behavior and neurochemistry. The recommended treatment for envenomation is the antiscorpionic serum (SAEsc) administration. Related to this complexity of the Tityus serrulatus envenomation, this study aimed to assess organism responses to the venom, its impact on behavior, oxidative stress, neurochemistry, and genetic impacts, as well as the efficacy of SAEsc, especially concerning dopamine levels and genetic interactions.
