We have developed a self-assembled fluorescent cluster comprising a seminaphthorhodafluor (SNARF) derivative protected by a photoremovable -nitrobenzyl group. Prior to UV irradiation, a colorless and nonfluorescent cluster was spontaneously assembled in aqueous solution. After UV irradiation, the self-assembled cluster remained intact and showed a large enhancement in pH-responsive fluorescence. The unique pH responsive fluorescent cluster could be used as a dual-emissive ratiometric fluorescent pH probe not only in the test tube but also in HeLa cell cultures.

Broadband near-infrared (NIR) fiber arrays are highly desirable for multiplexed fluorescence endoscopic, however, there is a challenge for the development of miniature light sources with highly efficient broadband NIR emissions. Here the synthesis of a MgAlO:Cr nanocrystal-glass composite (NGC) with an Cr-clusters-induced broadband NIR emission possessing is presented and external quantum efficiency of 44% and a full width at half maximum of 297 nm, and the NGC fiber is further fabricated through a template solidification strategy, resulting in the construction of an all-fiber coupling system by fusing them with commercial quartz fiber that achieves an optical coupling efficiency of 95.2%.

Self-assembly plays a critical role in nanoparticle-based applications. However, it remains challenging to monitor the self-assembly of multi-component nanomaterials at a single-particle level, in real-time, with high throughput, and in a model-independent manner. Here, multi-color fluorescence microscopy is applied to track the assembly of both liposomes and mRNA simultaneously in clinical mRNA-based cancer immunotherapy.

Repetitive sequences are recognized for their roles in plant genome organization and function. Mobile elements are notable repeatome sequences due to their intrinsic mutagenic potential, which is related to the origin of adaptive novelties. Understanding the genomic organization and dynamics of the repeatome is fundamental to enlighten their role in plant genome evolution.

In this paper, we designed and synthesized a novel based on quinoline modification half-salamo-type Zn(II) complex([Zn(L)(μ-OCH)]·(ClO)), namely ZP. The structure of ZP was determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, in which the Zn(II) ions displayed in two different coordination modes, ultimately forming a highly symmetric heptanuclear structure. The Zn(II) complex probe modified by quinoline luminescent group has excellent luminescence properties and selectively recognizes Fe in aqueous solution.

A π-Extended AIE Platform for Pattern Recognition of Glycosaminoglycans.

Anal Chem

Department of Chemistry, College of Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210095, People's Republic of China.

Accurate discrimination of complicated glycosaminoglycans is a challenging but meaningful task for ensuring their safe use in clinics. With the purpose of reducing the production cost of sensor arrays for glycosaminoglycans, three fluorescence turn-on sensors named , , and were readily synthesized by simple alkylation of the pyridyl units of the π-extended AIEgen, namely, tetra-(4-pyridylphenyl) ethylene. The designed sensors are cross-reactive toward tested glycosaminoglycans including heparin, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, and dextran sulfate, whose mechanism could be ascribed to the multivalent electrostatic, CH···π, and hydrophobic interactions between the sensors and different glycosaminoglycans to form corresponding fluorescent aggregates.
