A novel nonenzymatic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sensor has been fabricated by dispersing copper nanoparticles onto polypyrrole (PPy) nanowires by cyclic voltammetry (CV) to form PPy-copper nanocomposites on gold electrodes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the morphologies of the PPy nanowires and the PPy-copper nanocomposite. The reactivity of the PPy-copper nanocomposite towards H2O2 was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. Effects of applied potential, the concentrations of detection solution upon the response currents of the sensor were investigated for an optimum analytical performance. It was proved that the PPy-copper nanocomposite showed excellent catalytic activity for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The sensor showed a linear response to hydrogen peroxide in the concentration range between 7.0×10 and 4.3×10 mol L with a high sensitivity, and a detection limit of 2.3×10 mol L. Experiment results also showed that the sensor had good stability.

A niobium (Nb) mesh electrode was coated with boron-doped diamond (BDD) using chemical vapor deposition in a custom-built hot-filament reactor. The BDD-functionalized mesh was tested in a zero-gap electrolysis configuration and evaluated for the anodic formation of HO by selective oxidation of water, including the analysis of the effects on Faradaic efficiency towards HO (FEH2O2) induced by pulsed electrolysis. A low electrolyte flow rate (V⋅) was found to result in a relatively high concentration of HO in single-pass electrolysis experiments.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. Calcium dysregulation and neuroinflammation are essential and common mechanisms in epileptogenesis. Sarco/endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Ca-ATPase 2b (SERCA2b), a crucial calcium regulatory pump, plays pathological roles in various calcium dysregulation-related diseases.

Fungal contamination in drinking water has garnered considerable attention over the past few decades, especially considering the detrimental consequences of pathogenic fungal species on both human and animal health. The formation of biofilms by certain species is a considerable factor contributing to the emergence of severe fungal infections. This research was designed to isolate and identify fungi, particularly those capable of forming biofilms from 150 samples of drinking water sourced from various locations.

As an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly semiconductor material, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) can generate hydrogen peroxide (HO) by photocatalysis, attracting wide attention in recent years. Herein, the effects of hydroxyl, methoxyl, and vinyl groups of imide-linked two-dimensional (2D) COFs on the photocatalytic production of HO were studied theoretically and experimentally. The introduction of vinyl groups greatly promotes the photogenerated charge separation and migration of COFs, providing more oxygen adsorption sites, stronger proton affinity, and lower intermediate binding energy, which effectively facilitates the rapid conversion of oxygen to HO.

Aquaporins are widely present in the plant kingdom and play important roles in plant response to abiotic adversity stresses such as water and temperature extremes. In this study, we investigated the regulatory role of NTPIP2;4 on drought tolerance in tobacco at physiological and transcriptional levels. In this experiment, we constructed an NtPIP2;4 overexpression vector and genetically transformed tobacco variety 'K326' to investigate the mechanism of NtPIP2;4 gene in regulating drought tolerance in tobacco at physiological and transcriptomic levels.
