Detecting Hemorrhagic Myocardial Infarction With 3.0-T CMR: Insights Into Spatial Manifestation, Time-Dependence, and Optimal Acquisitions.

JACC Cardiovasc Imaging

January 2025

Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences and Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Electronic address:

Background: Hemorrhagic myocardial infarction (hMI) can rapidly diminish the benefits of reperfusion therapy and direct the heart toward chronic heart failure. T2∗ cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is the reference standard for detecting hMI. However, the lack of clarity around the earliest time point for detection, time-dependent changes in hemorrhage volume, and the optimal methods for detection can limit the development of strategies to manage hMI.

Background: The human microbiome is crucial in regulating intestinal and systemic functions. While its role in cardiovascular disease is better understood, the link between intestinal microbiota and valvular heart diseases (VHD) remains largely unexplored.

Methods: Peer-reviewed studies on human, animal or cell models analysing gut microbiota profiles published up to April 2024 were included.

Establishing and managing nature reserves to mitigate wildlife habitat loss and fragmentation is challenging, particularly in the face of increasing human activity. To understand how wildlife coexists in environments affected by anthropogenic disturbances, we conducted a 19-month survey examining the Reeves's pheasant () and Koklass pheasant () in the Anhui Tianma National Nature Reserve, China. Previous studies of large terrestrial birds focused primarily on livestock impacts, with less attention given to other human activities.

Background: Adeno-associated virus (AAV) 8 and 9 are in clinical trials for treating neuromuscular diseases such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Muscle consists of myofibres of different types and sizes. However, little is known about the fibre type and fibre size tropism of AAV in large mammals.

Canine urothelial cell model to study intracellular bacterial community development by uropathogenic Escherichia coli.

PLoS One

January 2025

Department of Population Health and Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States of America.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections of both dogs and humans, with most caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). Recurrent UPEC infections are a major concern in the treatment and management of UTIs in both species. In humans, the ability of UPECs to form intracellular bacterial communities (IBCs) within urothelial cells has been implicated in recurrent UTIs.
