Importance: Fracture-related infection (FRI) is a serious complication following fracture fixation surgery. Current treatment of FRIs entails debridement and 6 weeks of intravenous (IV) antibiotics. Lab data and retrospective clinical studies support use of oral antibiotics, which are less expensive and may have fewer complications than IV antibiotics.

The compulsory Mental Healthcare Act (Dutch: Wvggz) provides, in exceptional cases, a legal framework for the implementation of psychiatric and somatic treatment without the patients consent. We describe a pregnant patient with a psychotic disorder who was compulsorily admitted to a psychiatric ward and treated with antipsychotic medication. She was unable to give informed consent regarding obstetric care.

Pathological fractures after jaw cyst surgery are rare clinically but are a serious complication. Once a pathological fracture occurs, treatment time and economic costs increase, and doctors face difficulty in handling it. This valvular disease, when symptomatic and without appropriate intervention, severe AS can drastically reduce life expectancy. In our systematic review and -analysis, we aim to synthesize available evidence to guide clinical decision-making by comparing the performance of TAVR and SAVR, specifically in patients with severe AS and a small aortic annulus.

Fungal peritonitis is an uncommon but serious complication that can occur in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. It represents a small percentage of all peritonitis cases in these patients. Its diagnosis can be challenging due to the slow growth of fungi and frequent negative culture results.
