We describe a novel technique for recurrent pterygium and assess the advantage of properties of extended tenonectomy, amniotic membrane transplantation, and limbal epithelial transplantation in terms of recurrence rate, postoperative symptoms, postoperative orthoptics, and other complications. A total of nine eyes with recurrent pterygium underwent PERMISLET, i.e.

Background: Microcardia and cardiomegaly are good diagnostic and prognostic tools for several diseases. This study investigated the distribution of microcardia and cardiomegaly among students of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ghana to determine the prevalence of microcardia and cardiomegaly across gender, and to evaluate the correlation between the presence of these heart conditions and age.
Methods: This retrospective study involved a review of 4519 postero-anterior (PA) chest X-rays (CXRs) between 2020 and 2023.

Purpose: To compare graft remodeling, as measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and clinical outcomes between patients who underwent isolated anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) versus combined anterior cruciate ligament and anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ACLR + ALLR).
Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on patients who underwent primary ACLR with quadruple hamstring grafts between January 2019 and March 2022, with a minimum follow-up period of 2 years. Patients were categorized into two groups based on the addition of ALLR with tibialis anterior allografts: an isolated ACLR group and an ACLR + ALLR group.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) after high-energy, behind helmet blunt trauma (BHBT) is an important but poorly understood clinical entity often associated with apnea and death in humans. In this study, we use a swine model of high-energy BHBT to characterize key neuropathologies and their association with acute respiratory decompensation. Animals with either stable or critical vital signs were euthanized within 4 h after injury for neuropathological assessment, with emphasis on axonal and vascular pathologies in the brainstem.

Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS), also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome or DiGeorge syndrome, is a complex genetic disorder associated with a spectrum of phenotypic features, including craniofacial anomalies, congenital heart defects, and neurodevelopmental challenges. Among the more concerning, though under-recognized, presentation in VCFS is carotid artery medialization-a finding that places patients at substantial risk for vascular injury during pharyngeal surgeries.
