Direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) agents offer several lifestyle and therapeutic advantages for patients relative to warfarin in the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). These alternative agents are increasingly used in the treatment of AF, however the adoption practices, patient profiles, and reasons for switching to a DOAC from warfarin have not been well studied. Through the Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative, abstracted data from 3873 AF patients, enrolled between 2010 and 2015, were collected on demographics and comorbid conditions, stroke and bleeding risk scores, and reasons for anticoagulant switching. Over the study period, patients who switched from warfarin to a DOAC had similar baseline characteristics, risk scores, and insurance status but differed in baseline CrCl. The most common reasons for switching were patient related ease of use concerns (37.5%) as opposed to clinical reasons (16.5% of patients). Only 13% of patients that switched to a DOAC switched back to warfarin by the end of the study period.

Objectives: This pilot study aimed to identify early predictors of drug retention in patients with clinically active peripheral psoriatic arthritis who initiated or switched to therapy with biologic and targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs and tsDMARDs).
Methods: Clinical and ultrasound assessments were conducted at baseline (t0) and subsequently at 1 (t1), 3 (t3), and 6 (t6) months. Ultrasound evaluations targeted joints/entheses according to PsASon-Score13 and the most clinically involved joint/enthesis/tendon or the two most clinically involved joints/entheses/tendons (MIJET and 2MIJET).

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is widely recognized as a safe and effective intervention for treating severe affective episodes in patients with bipolar disorder. However, it can sometimes precipitate unexpected manic phases in patients treated for a depressive episode, a phenomenon known as ECT-induced mania. While this occurrence is recognized, it remains poorly understood and minimally addressed in the literature.

Objective: Benzodiazepines, particularly lorazepam, are good options for acute catatonia treatment. Published catatonia literature on benzodiazepine maintenance treatment and benzodiazepine tolerance is limited.
Methods: This is a chart review covering 30 years of clinical experience in the state of Kentucky, (United States of America), where there was no easy access to electroconvulsive therapy.

Unlabelled: Transposition of the great arteries (Dextro-TGA), repaired with physiological correction techniques (atrial switch - Mustard or Senning surgery), can present as a complication the failure of the right ventricle that acts as systemic and, at the same time, deconditioning of the left ventricle, leading to congestive heart failure. In these patients, treatment and recovery options are very limited.
Objective: To describe successful late anatomical correction after ventricular retraining.

Introduction Hemodialysis (HD) therapy is a crucial treatment for patients with renal failure but can impact the hemodynamics of antithrombin (AT), a protein essential for regulating hemostasis and preventing thrombosis. Reduced AT activity can lead to thrombus formation at unusual sites and increase the risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism. The loss of AT during HD or hemodiafiltration (HDF) through leakage or adsorption onto dialysis membranes has not been fully investigated, and its effects on AT hemodynamics remain unclear.
