Early classification of lower gastrointestinal bleeding as occult, minor overt, or major overt allows a practical approach to evaluation and management. Localization of the bleeding site is the next step. In occult and minor overt bleeding, the cause can usually be determined from results of conventional diagnostic tests; however, angiography and even intraoperative endoscopy may be necessary in some particularly difficult cases. In contrast, major overt bleeding may only allow time for angiographic localization before surgery. Using this approach, the primary care physician can successfully manage most patients with lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Purpose: The survival benefits of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) patients are inconsistent. This study aims to investigate how different tumor regression grades (TRG) influence the survival gains associated with NAC treatment.
Methods: This study compared the treatment outcomes of patients who underwent CSC (neoadjuvant chemotherapy - surgery - adjuvant chemotherapy) with those receiving traditional SC (surgery - adjuvant chemotherapy) treatment.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are an emerging strategy in cancer therapy, enhancing precision and efficacy by linking targeted antibodies to potent cytotoxic agents. This study introduces a novel ADC that combines ribonuclease A (RNase A) with cetuximab (Cet), an anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody, through a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker (RN-PEG-Cet), aimed to induce apoptosis in KRAS mutant colorectal cancer (CRC) via a ROS-mediated pathway. RN-PEG-Cet was successfully synthesized and characterized for its physicochemical properties, retaining full enzymatic activity in RNA degradation and high binding affinity to EGFR.

Aim: We aimed to investigate whether sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) are associated with a decreased risk of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) compared to other glucose lowering medications (oGLMs).
Methods: This active-comparator, new-user cohort study used the nationwide National Health Insurance Service database of the Republic of Korea from September 2014 to June 2020. From 79,423 new users of SGLT2is and 294,707 new users of oGLMs, we used a propensity score to match 59,954 from each of these two treatment groups.

Obesity, as a global health crisis, is increasingly linked to intestinal microecology. Probiotics colonise the body, effectively regulating the balance of intestinal flora, while strengthening the intestinal barrier, activating the immune response, releasing beneficial substances, and maintaining micro-ecological balance. This process not only enhances the defence against pathogens, but also reduces the production of inflammatory factors and lowers the level of chronic inflammation.

Introduction: Chest tube insertions (CTIs) have a high complication rate, prompting the training of technical skills in simulated settings. However, assessment tools require validity evidence prior to their implementation. This study aimed to collect validity evidence for assessment of technical skills in CTI on Thiel-embalmed human bodies.
