Introduction: Defects in the central region of the upper lip are difficult to repair.
Discussion: Several techniques have been described, many of them requiring a second surgical procedure to obtain acceptable aesthetic results.
Case Report: A patient with a soft defect in the central region of the upper lip following aggression by human bite is presented. To repair the defect, the principles described by Goldstein for lateral lip defects were used (Goldstein in Plast Reconstr Surg 85(3):446-452, 1990; Robotti et al. in J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg 63:431-439, 2010).
Conclusion: In this particular case, two full-thickness advancing miomucosal flaps from the vermilion of the upper lip were used with predictable aesthetic results.

Objective: To determine the effect of the nose and chin on the cephalometric lip profile.
Methods And Material: The pre-treatment lateral cephalograms of 177 adult patients with no history of orthodontic treatment were manually traced. The sample size was divided into three vertical and horizontal groups using angle ANB and MMA to assess the difference in nose and chin forms.

Objective: To study the biomechanical changes induced by differences in perioral force in patients with missing anterior maxillary teeth at rest via finite element analysis (FEA).
Methods: Using conical beam CT (CBCT) images of a healthy person, models of the complete maxillary anterior dental region (Model A) and maxillary anterior dental region with a missing left maxillary central incisor (Model B) were constructed. The labial and palatine alveolar bone and tooth surface of the bilateral incisor and cusp regions were selected as the application sites, the resting perioral force was applied perpendicular to the tissue surface, and the changes in maxillary stress and displacement after the perioral force was simulated were analyzed.

Lip ulcers associated with endotracheal tube fixation are a known complication in adults, but their prevalence in neonates and preterm infants remains unclear. We report a case of a right oral commissure ulcer that developed during endotracheal tube fixation at the right oral commissure and left lateral decubitus positioning in an extremely preterm infant with unilateral pulmonary interstitial emphysema (PIE). A male infant was born at 24 weeks and four days of gestation, weighing 696 gm.

Background: An orofacial cleft significantly impacts the oral health-related quality of life of children and teenagers. Secondary reconstruction is a more complex procedure due to tissue deficiency and scarring. The study aimed to evaluate the use of Pfeifer's wave-line incision method and the rotational flap method in the secondary reconstruction of unilateral lip clefts in patients with unilateral cleft lip and ala nasi aged 5-25 years utilizing anthropometry assessment.
