Three new flavans, (2R,3R)-7-methoxy-flavan-3-ol (1), (2S)-7,3'-dihydroxy-4'-methoxyflavan 3'-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), (2S)-7,3'-dihydroxy-4'-methoxyflavan 7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (3), and one known flavan (4) were isolated from the whole plants of Zephyranthes candida (Amaryllidacea). The structures of the new flavans 1-3 were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses including HRESIMS, NMR, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD), and the absolute configuration of 1 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis with Cu Kα irradiation. Flavans 1-3 displayed significant inhibitory effects on the LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 mouse macrophages with IC values of 17.34, 16.14, and 21.52μM, respectively, suggesting their potentials for anti-inflammatory agents.

Galanthamine is an immensely valuable alkaloid exhibiting anti-cancer and antiviral activity. The cultivation of plant tissues in in vitro conditions is a good source for the synthesis and enrichment of secondary metabolites of commercial interest. In this study, the Amaryllidaceae alkaloid galanthamine was quantified in three species, such as , , and , and the impact of the methyl jasmonate (MJ) signaling molecule on galanthamine accumulation was monitored in in vitro-derived plant tissues.

Green nanotechnology is one of the most expanding fields that provides numerous novel nanoparticle drug formulations with enhanced bioactivity performance. This study aims to synthesize mesoporous metal organic framework (ZIF-8) phytofabricated with the herb Allium sativum (As) as an indicator system for its antibacterial and antifungal impact. The successful synthesis of ZIF-8 as nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (SEM-EDX and TEM) that showed the textural retainment of ZIF-8 on composite formation with A.
