The investigation of microRNAs (miRNAs) for the purpose of identifying biomarkers and new treatments for breast cancer has been gaining traction from scientists in recent years. Of all the miRNAs, miR-155 has been reportedly involved in breast cancer development as it regulates various cellular processes such as glucose uptake, proliferation, metastasis, and migration. Various efforts have been done towards researching miR-155 as a biomarker in breast cancer; however, the results were varied.

The progression of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is associated with increased cell apoptosis and reduced extracellular matrix (ECM) production, both of which are driven by ongoing inflammation. Thus, alleviating the acidic inflammatory microenvironment and mitigating the apoptosis of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) are essential for intervertebral disc (IVD) regeneration. Regulating pH levels in the local environment can reduce inflammation and promote tissue recovery.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a dangerous neurological disease associated with an imbalance in Th17/Treg cells and abnormal activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This study aims to investigate whether inhibition of miR-155 can activate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway to improve Th17/Treg imbalance and provide neuroprotective effects against stroke. We employed a multi-level experimental design.

Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Despite the use of newer agents, such as polatuzumab vedotin, more than one-third of patients have ultimately relapsed or experienced refractory disease. MiRNAs are single-stranded, ~22-nucleotide-long RNAs that interact with their target RNA.

Serum- and glucocorticoid-regulated kinase 3 (SGK3) protein is the target of microRNA-155.
