Aims: To report the global, regional and national burden of depressive disorders and their attributable risk factors from 1990 to 2021.
Methods: Data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 were analyzed for 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021.

The liver is a sexually dimorphic organ. Sex differences in prevalence, progression, prognosis and treatment do prevail in most liver diseases, and the mechanism of how liver diseases act differently among male versus female patients have not been fully elucidated. Biological sex differences in normal physiology and disease arise principally from sex hormones and/or sex chromosomes.

Introduction: Efforts to improve pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake among gay men, transgender women, and Black cisgender women are evident across the United States, responding to epidemiologic data showing a disproportionate HIV burden in these communities. However, transgender men and other transmasculine people who have sex with men (TMSM)-those assigned female at birth who identify otherwise and have sex with cisgender men-are often excluded from these statistics. This community has unique vulnerabilities and prevention needs.

Spinal microglia and astrocytes are both involved in neuropathic and inflammatory pain, which may display sexual dimorphism. Here, we demonstrate that the sustained activation of spinal astrocytes and astrocyte-derived interleukin (IL)-17A promotes the progression of mouse bone cancer pain without sex differences. Chemogenetic or pharmacological inhibition of spinal astrocytes effectively ameliorates bone cancer-induced pain-like behaviors.
