3D cultivation of MG-63 osteoblast-like cells on mineralized fibroin scaffolds leads to an increase in the expression of alkaline phosphatase, an early marker of bone formation. Increased expression is associated with the actin cytoskeleton reorganization under the influence of 3D cultivation and osteogenic calcium phosphate component of the microcarrier.

Melatonin (MT), an endogenous hormone secreted by pineal gland, has the sedative, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant functions. However, there are few studies on whether MT affects the proliferation and differentiation of antler chondrocytes. The present study investigated the influences of MT on the proliferation and differentiation of antler chondrocytes, explored its regulation on runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), NOTCH1 and sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling, and elucidated their interplays.

Background: Regenerative endodontics requires an innovative delivery system to release antibiotics/growth factors in a sequential trend. This study focuses on developing/characterizing a thermoresponsive core-shell hydrogel designed for targeted drug delivery in endodontics.
Methods: The core-shell chitosan-alginate microparticles were prepared by electrospraying to deliver bone morphogenic protein-2 for 14 days and transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) for 7-14 days.

Late expression factor 3 (LEF3), a multifunctional single-stranded DNA binding protein encoded by baculoviruses, is indispensable for viral DNA replication and plays a pivotal role in viral infection. Our previous quantitative analysis of phosphorylomics revealed that the phosphorylation levels of two serine residues (S8 and S25) located in LEF3 nuclear localization sequence were significantly up-regulated after Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) infection, but the underlying mechanism remained unknown. To investigate the impact of phosphorylation on BmNPV infection, site-direct mutagenesis was performed on LEF3 to obtain phosphorylated mimic (S/D) or dephosphorylated mimic (S/A) mutants.

Endocytosis is a prominent mechanism for SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells. Upon internalization into early endosomes (EEs), the virus is transported to late endosomes (LEs), where acidic conditions facilitate spike protein processing and viral genome release. Dynein and kinesin motors drive EE transport along microtubules; dynein moves EEs to the perinuclear region, while kinesins direct them towards the plasma membrane, creating a tug-of-war over the direction of transport.
