Published: February 2019

Objective: To learn about children's perception of the causes and prevention strategies involved in school accidents.

Method: The sample included 584 school children aged 8-9 years from Navarra. A mixed design was chosen by questionnaire with three open-response questions and one multiple-choice assessment. Analysis was performed in two phases: 1) qualitative development of categories and dimensions of the responses of narrative content, and 2) quantitative variables for recoding correlational analysis.

Results: 22 categories emerged, which make up three perceptual dimensions: 1) attribution of causality (5), 2) identification of mechanisms of avoidance (11), and 3) development of coping strategies (6). The correlation intra-variables portray varying degrees: on the one hand, moderate positive numbers (r>0.5) in allocating and identifying causality avoidance mechanisms and, on the other hand, high positive correlation values (r>0.7) referred to developing coping strategies.

Discussion: Children are able to identify accidents as a health problem. They question the multiplicity of elements involved and relate the origin and kind of accident to prevention and support mechanisms.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, the most severe pandemic in recent human history, found healthcare systems around the world more or less unprepared. • The prevention and treatment of brain metastasis are critical challenges that need to be addressed to enhance the quality of life and survival for these patients.
  • The review explores the causes of brain metastasis, current treatment options, and prospective strategies for future therapies and diagnostics.

Exhaled breath metabolites reveal postmenopausal gut-bone cross-talk and non-invasive markers for osteoporosis.

Background: Menopause driven decline in estrogen exposes women to risk of osteoporosis. Detection of early onset and silent progression are keys to prevent fractures and associated burdens.

Methods: In a discovery cohort of 120 postmenopausal women, we combined repeated quantitative pulse-echo ultrasonography of bone, assessment of grip strength and serum bone markers with mass-spectrometric analysis of exhaled metabolites to find breath volatile markers and quantitative cutoff levels for osteoporosis.

Introduction: Early in 2021, the SARS-CoV-2 incidence rate was higher in the East than in the West of the Alpes-Maritimes district in France. What was the impact of social deprivation, household overcrowding and population density per km on this difference in incidence rate?

Methods: Cases were defined as persons with a first SARS-CoV-2 positive test detected between 04/01/2021 and 14/02/2021. We studied the « French Deprivation index » (FDep), rate of overcrowded households and population density/km.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) associated with intravascular thrombosis is emerging as a significant public health concern in India, driven by a complex interplay of lifestyle, genetic predisposition, and socio-economic factors. This review examines recent trends in the prevalence, risk factors, and epidemiology of these conditions within the Indian population. A systematic search and selection process was employed to identify relevant studies, focusing on articles published between 2007 and 2024.
