Bladder cancer encapsulates a wide spectrum of disease severities, with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) representing an entirely different entity from muscle-invasive disease. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is one of the most successful intravesical treatment methods for patients diagnosed. However, a considerable proportion of patients fail to respond to BCG treatment.

Cervical epidural hematoma (EDH) is a rare but very serious cause of acute neurologic compression that needs early diagnosis and rapid intervention. Acute hemiparesis is an infrequent presentation of cervical EDH and often mimics cerebrovascular accident. In this case, we describe the management of a case of cervical EDH presenting as acute hemiparesis in an elderly female patient which mimicked as thrombosis of intracranial flow diverter in situ.

Owing to advances in genome sequencing, genome stability has become one of the most scrutinized cellular traits across the Tree of Life. Despite its centrality to all things biological, the mutation rate (per nucleotide site per generation) ranges over three orders of magnitude among species and several-fold within individual phylogenetic lineages. Within all major organismal groups, mutation rates scale negatively with the effective population size of a species and with the amount of functional DNA in the genome.
