: Following previous findings on high-salt (HS)-intake-related increase of oxidative stress, this study explored whether carnosine (CAR; β-alanyl-L-histidine), a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger, enhanced antioxidative defence and vascular function following HS, potentially via the NRF2 or HIF-1α signalling pathway. : Sprague Dawley rats (64, 8-10 weeks old, both sexes) were divided into four groups (n = 6/group): CTRL (0.4% NaCl), HS (4% NaCl for 7 days), CTRL + CAR (0.

The serine/threonine kinase CK2 (formerly known as casein kinase II) plays a crucial role in various CNS disorders and is highly expressed in various types of cancer. Therefore, inhibiting this key kinase could be promising for the treatment of these diseases. The CK2 holoenzyme is formed by the recruitment of two catalytically active CK2α and/or CK2α' subunits by a regulatory CK2β dimer.

The translocation of proteins from the cytoplasm to the endoplasmic reticulum occurs via a conserved Sec61 protein channel. Previously, we reported that mutations in histones cause downregulation of a CUP1 copper metallothionein and copper exposure inhibits the activity of Sec61. However, the role of epigenetic dysregulation on the activity of channel is not clear.

COVID-19 still spreads worldwide, and repeated infections are hard to avoid. Maternal infection during pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Our study used a multi-omics profiling method to explore the proteome and metabolome alteration in early embryonic development after COVID-19 infection.

Epidemiologic studies have shown a continuous increase in mortality risk associated with overweight, thus highlighting the health risks beginning before the onset of obesity. However, early changes in inflammatory signaling induced by an obesogenic diet remain largely unknown since studies of obesity typically utilize models induced by months of continuous exposure to a high-fat diet. Here, we investigated how short-term overfeeding remodels inflammatory signaling.
