A rhodium-catalyzed exchange reaction of diphosphine disulfides, a diphosphine oxide, and a diphosphine is developed. Various symmetric diphosphine disulfides containing alkyl and phenyl groups are exchanged, giving equilibrium mixtures, from which unsymmetric diphosphine disulfides are readily separated by silica gel chromatography. The resulting unsymmetric diphosphine disulfide is regioselectively added to an aldehyde.

Over the past few decades, research on the chemistry of gold has progressed rapidly, encompassing topics like catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, molecular recognition, . These chemical properties are of great value in developing therapeutics or orthogonal catalysts in biology. However, the presence of concentrated nucleophiles and reductants, particularly thiol-containing serum albumin in blood and glutathione (GSH) inside cells that can strongly bind and quench the active gold species, makes it difficult to translate the chemistry of gold from test tubes into living systems.

The generation of diphosphorus molecules P under mild conditions in solution is a useful strategy to generate diphosphines [4+2] cycloadditions. We recently described the release of P units from the nickel butterfly complex [{(IMes)Ni(CO)}(μ,η:η-P)] (IMes=1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)imidazolin-2-ylidene) upon addition of CO gas. Herein, we developed an alternative protocol for the same process using heterocumulenes.

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations on FeS(CO)(PMe) for = 0, 1, and 2 reveal that the most electron-rich derivatives ( = 2) exist as diferrous disulfides lacking an S-S bond. The thermal interconversion of the Fe(S) and Fe(S) valence isomers is symmetry-forbidden. Related electron-rich diiron complexes [FeS(CN)(CO)] of an uncertain structure are implicated in the biosynthesis of [FeFe]-hydrogenases.

The photoinduced reactions of tetraphenyldiphosphine disulfide with a range of organic dichalcogenides successfully afforded a series of phosphorus(V)-chalcogen interelement compounds via a radical process. The relative reactivities of the organic dichalcogenides (i.e.

Mixed-ligand Cu(I) complexes have attracted attention as alternatives to the noble- and/or rare-metal complexes, because of their remarkable photofunctions. To develop mixed-ligand Cu(I) complexes with rich photofunctions, an investigation of a suitable combination of ligands has captured more and more research interests. Herein, we report the first examples of emissive heteroleptic diphosphine-disulfide Cu(I) complexes combined with diphosphine ligands.
