The Système International des Unités (SI) base unit for photometry, the candela, has been realized by using absolute detectors rather than absolute sources. This change in method permits luminous intensity calibrations of standard lamps to be carried out with a relative expanded uncertainty (coverage factor = 2, and thus a 2 standard deviation estimate) of 0.46 %, almost a factor-of-two improvement. A group of eight reference photometers has been constructed with silicon photodiodes, matched with filters to mimic the spectral luminous efficiency function for photopic vision. The wide dynamic range of the photometers aid in their calibration. The components of the photometers were carefully measured and selected to reduce the sources of error and to provide baseline data for aging studies. Periodic remeasurement of the photometers indicate that a yearly recalibration is required. The design, characterization, calibration, evaluation, and application of the photometers are discussed.

Research on multifunctional luminous materials has garnered a lot of interest in the fields of optical sensing, biological imaging, white light-emitting diodes illumination, etc. A novel multifunctional phosphor of Pr-doped BiMoO (BMO: Pr), created via the solid-state method, was investigated in this work. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectra, and fluorescence decay curves were employed to analyze the produced phosphors.

The development of flexible, intelligent, and lightweight optoelectronic devices based on flexible transparent conductive electrodes (FTCEs) utilizing silver nanowires (AgNWs) has garnered increasing attention. However, achieving low surface resistance, strong adhesion to the flexible substrate, low surface roughness, and green degradability remains a challenge. Here, a composite electrode combining natural polymer cellulose nanofibers (TCNFs) with AgNWs was prepared.

According to the fluorescence internal filtering effect (IFE), the more the absorption spectrum of the quencher overlaps with the excitation and emission spectra of the fluorescent substance, the better the quenching effect and, correspondingly, the more significant and sensitive the contrast becomes when the fluorescence is turned on. Thus, in the competitive fluorescence-quenching lateral flow immunoassays (FQ-LFIAs), the fluorescence quencher with an outstanding optical property is of great importance. Herein, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and polydopamine (PDA) coengineered covalent organic frameworks (COF/Au@PDA) were synthesized as a fluorescence quencher to increase spectral overlap.
