A 77-year-old woman was diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism, and initial cervical ultrasonography found no parathyroid lesion, and she was referred to the nuclear medicine unit for dual-phase 99mTc-sestamibi (MIBI) scan. The scintigraphy unveiled heterogeneous uptake patterns across bilateral thyroid lobes, corresponding to the thyroid nodules, alongside a marked focal uptake with delayed tracer washout in the right oral region. The SPECT/CT pinpointed a MIBI-avid nodule within the right parapharyngeal space, indicative of parathyroid ectopia.

Molecular imaging has significantly advanced the detection and analysis of in vivo metabolic processes, while single-modal techniques remain limited. Dual-modal imaging, particularly positron emission tomography (PET)-based combinations has emerged as a powerful solution, offering enhanced capabilities through integration with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging. This review highlights recent progress in PET-based dual-modal imaging, focusing on the development of various bimodal probes derived from antibodies, nanoparticles, and peptides, and key applications including image-guided surgery and disease assessment.

Horizontal connections in anterior inferior temporal cortex (ITC) are thought to play an important role in object recognition by integrating information across spatially separated functional columns, but their functional organization remains unclear. Using a combination of optical imaging, electrophysiological recording, and anatomical tracing, we investigated the relationship between stimulus-response maps and patterns of horizontal axon terminals in the macaque ITC. In contrast to the "like-to-like" connectivity observed in the early visual cortex, we found that horizontal axons in ITC do not preferentially connect sites with similar object selectivity.

Liposomal nanocarriers are able to carry peptides for efficient and selective delivery of radioactive tracer and drugs into the tumors. Angiopoietin 2 (ANGPT2) is an excellent biomarker for precise diagnosis and therapy of glioma. The present study aimed to design ANGPT2-specific peptides to modify the surface of nanoliposomes containing doxorubicin (Dox) for integrative imaging and targeting therapy of glioma.

Aromatase plays a crucial role in the conversion of androgens to oestrogens and is often overexpressed in hormone-dependent tumours, particularly breast cancer. [18F]BIBD-071, which has excellent binding affinity for aromatase and good pharmacokinetics, has potential for the diagnosis and treatment of aromatase-related diseases. The MCF-7 cell line, which is hormone receptor-positive (HR+), was used in the assessment of the novel [18F]-labelled radiotracer [18F]BIBD-071 via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of an HR+ breast cancer xenograft model.
