Spiroplasma helicoides TABS-2 (DSM 22551) was isolated from the gut of a horsefly (Tabanus abactor) collected near Ardmore, Oklahoma, USA, in 1987. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of this bacterium to facilitate the investigation of its biology and the comparative genomics among Spiroplasma species.

Background: Maintaining gut health is a persistent and unresolved challenge in the poultry industry. Given the critical role of gut health in chicken performance and welfare, there is a pressing need to identify effective gut health intervention (GHI) strategies to ensure optimal outcomes in poultry farming. In this study, across three broiler production cycles, we compared the metagenomes and performance of broilers provided with ionophores (as the control group) against birds subjected to five different GHI combinations involving vaccination, probiotics, prebiotics, essential oils, and reduction of ionophore use.

Background: Crossover interactions stemming from phenotypic plasticity complicate selection decisions when evaluating hybrid maize with superior grain yield and consistent performance. Consequently, a two-year, region-wide investigation of 45 hybrids maize across Nepal was performed with the aim of disclosing both site and wide adapted hybrids. Utilizing an innovative "ProbBreed" package, based on Bayesian probability analysis of randomized complete block designs with three replicated trials at each station, this study substantively streamlines hybrids maize selection.

Bulk ATAC-seq assays have been used to map and profile the chromatin accessibility of regulatory elements such as enhancers, promoters, and insulators. This has provided great insight into the regulation of gene expression in many cell types in a variety of organisms. To date, ATAC-seq has most often been used to provide an average evaluation of chromatin accessibility in populations of cells.

Bridging the Gap: Phage Manufacturing Processes from Laboratory to Agri-Food Industry.

Virus Res

January 2025

Department of Genomics, Branch for Northwest & West Region, Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran (ABRII), Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), Tabriz, Iran. Electronic address:

Interest in bacteriophages (phages) as sustainable biocontrol agents in the agri-food industry has increased because of growing worries about food safety and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The phage manufacturing process is examined in this review, with particular attention paid to the crucial upstream and downstream processes needed for large-scale production. Achieving large phage yields requires upstream procedures, including fermentation and phage amplification.
