Background: Approximately 20% of women develop an ovarian cyst or pelvic mass at some point in their lives. Due to high false positivity of CA-125, women with various benign ovarian tumors simulating malignant masses undergo extensive debulking surgery resulting in increased morbidity. Serum HE4 is a useful test for better discrimination of benign or malignant nature of pelvic masses in preoperative period.

Introduction: Centralization of ovarian cancer treatment is associated with higher rates of optimal surgery and longer survival. However, preoperative diagnosis of ovarian cancer is challenging and some diagnoses are made incidentally after surgery. This study investigated the surgical and oncological outcomes of patients with incidental findings of borderline ovarian tumors or ovarian cancer who were centralized postoperatively and treated with a two-stage surgical procedure, and compared these with those of patients with adnexal masses of suspected malignancy who were offered a single-stage surgical procedure with intraoperative frozen section in a tertiary hospital.

Management of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma relies on a thorough understanding of the tumor's location and proximity to critical vasculobiliary structures. Mid-common bile duct tumors may require hemihepatectomy or pancreatoduodenectomy based on the status of the intraoperative frozen section. Distal common bile tumors are treated with pancreatoduodenectomy.
