Natural Densitals.

J Phys Chem Lett

The concept of natural densitals (NDs) and their amplitudes is introduced. These quantities provide the spectral decomposition of the cumulant of the two-electron density that, by definition, quantifies the extent of electron correlation. Consequently, they are ideally suited for a rigorous description of electron correlation effects in Coulombic systems.

Odours released by objects in natural environments can contain information about their spatial locations. In particular, the correlation of odour concentration timeseries produced by two spatially separated sources contains information about the distance between the sources. For example, mice are able to distinguish correlated and anti-correlated odour fluctuations at frequencies up to 40 Hz, while insect olfactory receptor neurons can resolve fluctuations exceeding 100 Hz.

Diffraction imaging of cells allows rapid phenotyping by the response of intracellular molecules to coherent illumination. However, its ability to distinguish numerous types of human leukocytes remains to be investigated. Here, we show that accurate classification of three lymphocyte subtypes can be achieved with features extracted from cross-polarized diffraction image (p-DI) pairs.

Rubbers prepared from technical poly(butadiene) and natural poly(isoprene) are studied by field-cycling (FC) H NMR relaxometry to elucidate the changes of the relaxation spectrum. Starting with the non-cross-linked polymer successively cross-links are introduced via sulfur or peroxide vulcanization. Applying an advanced home-built relaxometer allows one to probe entanglement dynamics in addition to Rouse dynamics.

Electronic address:

Background: The detection of abnormal brain activity plays an important role in the early diagnosis and treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Recent studies have shown that the decomposition of the electroencephalography (EEG) spectrum into periodic and aperiodic components is useful for identifying the drivers of electrophysiologic abnormalities and avoiding individual differences.

Methods: This study aimed to elucidate the pathologic changes in individualized periodic and aperiodic activities and their relationships with the symptoms of MDD.
