To analyze the epidemic features of dyslipidemia among 39 980 Uygur, Kazak and Han ethnic groups in Urumqi, and to explore the methods of prevention and treatment on dyslipidemia. The differences of blood total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) of health examination population with different ethnics, genders, and ages were compared, from 2012 to 2014 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. Among the Uygur, Kazak and Han ethnic groups, the positive rate was respectively 35.0%, 37.0%, 30.3% in TC; 34.5%, 30.1% and 32.0% in TG; 24.9%, 18.3%, and 18.2% in HDL-C; 30.1%, 31.6% and 23.3% in LDL-C. In the same ethnic group, the abnormality rate of blood lipid in the female was lower than that of the male (<0.001). The blood lipid abnormality rate increased significantly in those with 30-39 years, and reached the highest value in the 50-59 years group, then it decreased in those aged over 60 years (<0.001). The lipid abnormality rate of the Uygur and Kazak residents was higher than that of the Han nationality, and the abnormal levels of TC and LDL-C were particularly evident in Urumqi.

Background: National Medical Licensing Examination (NMLE) is the entrance exam for medical practice in China, and its general medical knowledge test (GMKT) evaluates abilities of medical students to comprehensively apply medical knowledge to clinical practice. This study aimed to identify nonacademic predictors of GMKT performance, which would benefit medical schools in designing appropriate strategies and techniques to facilitate the transition from medical students to qualified medical practitioners.
Methods: In 1202 medical students, we conducted the deletion-substitution-addition (DSA) and structural equation model (SEM) analyses to identify nonacademic predictors of GMKT performance from 98 candidate variables including early life events, physical conditions, psychological and personality assessments, cognitive abilities, and socioeconomic conditions.

Epilepsy is a group of neurological disorders characterized by epileptic seizures, and it affects tens of millions of people worldwide. Currently, the most effective diagnostic method employs the monitoring of brain activity through electroencephalogram (EEG). However, it is critical to predict epileptic seizures in patients prior to their onset, allowing for the administration of preventive medications before the seizure occurs.
