Small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) are molecules located in the cell nucleolus and in Cajal bodies. Many scientific reports show that snoRNAs are not only responsible for modifications of other RNAs but also fulfill multiple other functions such as metabolic stress regulation or modulation of alternative splicing. Full-length snoRNAs as well as small RNAs derived from snoRNAs have been implied in human diseases such as cancer or Prader-Willi Syndrome. In this review we describe emerging, non-canonical roles of snoRNAs and their derivatives with the emphasis on their role in human diseases.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a first-line chemotherapy agent known for its cardiac toxicity. DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) severely limits the use for treating malignant tumors and is associated with a poor prognosis. The sensitivity to DIC varies among patients, but the precise mechanisms remain elusive.

Monocarpic plants flower only once and then produce seeds. Many monocarpic plants require a cold treatment known as vernalization before they flower. This requirement delays flowering until the plant senses warm temperatures in the spring.

Extrapulmonary small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (EP-SCNC) is a rare malignancy with a poor prognosis. Despite its morphological similarity to lung small cell carcinomas, its oncogenesis remains uncertain. One hundred and seventy-one EP-SCNC were enrolled in a multicenter study, and all tissue samples underwent an immunohistochemical p53 analysis.

Chinese cherry belongs to the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus, and has high nutritional and economic value. 'Duiying' is a Chinese cherry variety local to Beijing, and has better performance than sweet cherry in terms of disease resistance. However, disease resistance resources of 'Duiying' have not been fully exploited partially due to the lack of a high-quality genome.

Arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase type B (ALOX15B) peroxidises polyunsaturated fatty acids to their corresponding fatty acid hydroperoxides, which are subsequently reduced into hydroxy-fatty acids. A dysregulated abundance of these biological lipid mediators has been reported in the skin and blood of psoriatic compared to healthy individuals. RNAscope and immunohistochemistry revealed increased ALOX15B expression in lesional psoriasis samples.
