As a first step of pursuing the vision of "Big Data science in nursing," we described the characteristics of nursing research data reported in 194 published nursing studies. We also explored how completely the Version 1 metadata specification of biomedical and healthCAre Data Discovery Index Ecosystem (bioCADDIE) represents these metadata. The metadata items of the nursing studies were all related to one or more of the bioCADDIE metadata entities. However, values of many metadata items of the nursing studies were not sufficiently represented through the bioCADDIE metadata. This was partly due to the differences in the scope of the content that the bioCADDIE metadata are designed to represent. The 194 nursing studies reported a total of 1,181 unique data items, the majority of which take non-numeric values. This indicates the importance of data standardization to enable the integrative analyses of these data to support Big Data science in nursing.

This study aimed to refine and validate the Changing Talk Scale (CHATS), a tool for assessing knowledge of effective and person-centered communication in nursing home staff. CHATS was integrated into the Changing Talk: Online (CHATO) education program to measure the knowledge gains resulting from it.

Objective: This study investigates the factors influencing sedentary behavior in older adult Chinese stroke patients using decision trees and logistic regression models.
Methods: Convenience sampling method was employed to enroll 346 respondents aged ≥60 years with stroke from the Department of Neurology of three tertiary-level A hospitals in Heilongjiang province, based on the inclusion criteria. The Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire for Older Adults, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-S), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and the Social Support Scale (SSRS) were used to assess sedentary behavior, physical activity level, sleep quality, depressive symptoms, and social support, respectively.
Introduction: Previous observational studies have indicated an association between social isolation and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as angina, but various factors may confound these studies. This study employs Mendelian randomization to investigate the causal relationship between social isolation and angina, minimizing potential confounding effects.
