We report the first phytochemical study of the neotropical orchid . Eight new compounds, including one phenanthrene , one 9,10-dihydro-phenanthrene , one hydroxybenzylphenanthrene , two biphenanthrenes -, and three 9,10 dihydrophenanthrofurans -, together with 28 known phenolic compounds, mostly stilbenoids, were isolated from the CH₂Cl₂ extract of its leaves and pseudobulbs. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods.
