Volar fracture dislocation is very uncommon, with few series reported in the literature. Patients with such injuries were treated by modified dynamic external fixators. The mean follow-up was 18 months (range, 6 to 92 mo). The mean range of interphalangeal (proximal interphalangeal) joints and distal interphalangeal joints were 90 and 74 degrees, respectively. The total active range of motion (TAM) was excellent (256 degrees). The mean quick disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand score was 1.2. The advantages of our external fixators are that they are simple, cheap, adjustable, and allow immediate range of motion.

Despite frequent occurrences, especially throughout the Appalachian region, fish bite injuries remain largely underreported. Muskellunge anglers are at a particularly heightened risk due to the fish's large mouth and notably sharp teeth. We present a case of a male who sustained an injury to the right volar thumb following a muskellunge bite.

Euglycemic Diabetic ketoacidosis (E-DKA) is a life-threatening emergency characterized by ketonemia and metabolic acidosis in presence of relatively normal glycemic values. In recent years it has been associated with some predisposing conditions including sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) therapy, widely used in high-risk cardiovascular patients. We report the case of a 78-year-old diabetic woman treated with dapagliflozin, affected by critical limb threatening ischemia and septic osteoarthritis of interphalangeal joint of first right toe.

Background: Mallet finger injuries, characterized by a flexion deformity caused by trauma to the extensor mechanism at the base of the distal phalanx, can lead to significant functional impairment if not treated appropriately. Surgical interventions for osseous mallet finger injuries often include techniques such as extension-block pinning and perioperative modifying plate fixation. When comparing these two methods, it is critical to assess factors such as technical ease, perioperative considerations, and postoperative outcomes.

Lateral band snapping syndrome can be a debilitating condition involving the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint of the fingers. Although rare, it is thought to occur due to disruption of the finger extensor mechanism allowing inappropriate subluxation of the lateral bands over the PIP joint, leading to mechanical and painful symptoms. Here, we describe a woman in her early 40s with a painful, snapping PIP joint secondary to a work-related injury.
