The complete genomic sequence of a new virus from cherry trees was determined. Its genome is 5857 nt long and resembles that of members of the genus Luteovirus in its genomic organization and nucleotide sequence. Based on the species demarcation criteria for luteoviruses, the virus represents a new luteovirus species. Furthermore, a 47-nt-long inverted repeat was found at the 3' end of its genome. The virus has been provisionally named cherry-associated luteovirus (ChALV) and is the fourth member of the family Luteoviridae reported to naturally infect woody plants.

Wheat viruses are major yield-reducing factors, with mixed infections causing substantial economic losses. Determining field virus populations is crucial for effective management and developing virus-resistant cultivars. This study utilized the high-throughput Oxford Nanopore sequencing technique (ONT) to characterize wheat viral populations in major wheat-growing counties of Kansas from 2019 to 2021.

Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) is one of the most serious viral diseases in cereal crops worldwide. Identification of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) underlining wheat resistance to barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) is essential for breeding BYDV-tolerant wheat cultivars. In this study, a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population was developed from the cross between Jagger (PI 593688) and a Jagger mutant (JagMut1095).

The interactions among viruses and host plants are complex and fascinating because these organisms interact with and adapt to each other continuously. Many plant transcription factors play important roles in plant growth and development and in the resistance to viral infection. To facilitate the infection of plants, some viral proteins typically target and inhibit the function of plant transcription factors.

New and emerging viral problems may be contributing to blueberry decline. In this research we described a new virus detected in Oregon blueberry production field and surveyed the region for its potential spread. The complete genome sequence of a putative new member of the genus Luteovirus was obtained from blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.
