High-intensity focused ultrasound ablation to increase tumor-specific lymphocytes in prostate cancer.

Transl Oncol

Treatment options for localized prostate cancer have been expanded by FDA-approval of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). Prostate cancer typically has few tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, which are crucial for antitumor immunity. This study investigated the use of HIFU to increase lymphocyte infiltration into the tumor and enhance antitumor immunity.

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) provides comparable oncologic, erectile, and urinary outcomes to standard-of-care options for localized prostate cancer. This study reports the largest United States series of HIFU in veterans for both primary and salvage therapies. We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of 43 veterans treated at the Michael E.

Prostate cancer (PCa) pathogenesis relies on intercellular communication, which can involve tunnelling nanotubes (TNTs) and extracellular vesicles (EVs). TNTs and EVs have been reported to transfer critical cargo involved in cellular functions and signalling, prompting us to investigate the extent of organelle and protein transfer in PCa cells and the potential involvement of the androgen receptor. Using live cell imaging microscopy, we observed extensive formation of TNTs and EVs operating between PCa, non-malignant, and immune cells.

Background/objectives: Robot-assisted and open radical prostatectomy (RARP and ORP) are established procedures for localized prostate cancer, with comparable oncological and functional outcomes. Little is known about patients' knowledge of both procedures. This study aimed to examine comparatively the informational behaviour and knowledge of patients undergoing ORP vs.

Retrospective studies suggest that local radiotherapy on the prostate improves overall survival in the metastatic setting, but its benefit in patients with high-burden metastatic disease is still uncertain. We conducted a retrospective study of 100 high-metastatic-burden prostate cancer patients at Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center from 2004 to 2021. Patients receiving local RT alongside standard treatment were compared to those receiving standard treatment alone.
