A series of novel substituted hydrazono indolo[2,1-b]quinazoline-6,12-dione analogues have been synthesized and screened for their in vitro cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities. Among all the target compounds, 3c exhibited the most potent inhibitory activity against three cancer cell lines MCF-7, A549, HeLa with IC values 07.14±1.285μM, 09.18±0.968μM and 10.57±0.581μM respectively, while maintaining low toxicity towards non-cancer originated cell line, HEK-293. The detailed studies about molecular interactions with probable target protein indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1) were done by using docking simulations. The results from docking models are in consistent with the experimental in vitro cytotoxic activity conclusions i.e. 3c shows the highest binding energy -11.25kcal/mol. Furthermore, antimicrobial studies revealed that the compound 3e has shown excellent anti bacterial activity against four tested strains and the compounds 3b, 3e and 3f have shown good anti fungal activity against two tested organisms as compared with their standard drugs.

Electronic address:

Background: Arnebiae Radix has long been used in traditional medicine for its pleiotropic properties. However, distinguishing Arnebiae Radix from its substitutes or closely related species has been challenging due to limited phenotypic characteristics.

Purpose: We aimed to identify the molecular markers for distinguishing Arnebiae Radix from its confusion species.

To realize the aim of easy and accurate detection of ammonia and picric acid (PA) in both aqueous and vapor phases based on function-oriented investigation principles, in the present study, we include a luminescent performance with recognition performance, taking into account the application conditions. Zn(II) ions with luminescence qualities and an amine-substituted imidazole moiety with selective recognition properties towards picric acid and ammonia are coupled to generate a novel 1D luminous Zn(II) coordination polymer, Zn-CP [{Zn(II)( 2-ABZ)2(2-BDC)}].MeOH]∞, where 2-ABZ and 2-BDC stand for terephthalic acid and protonated 2 aminobenzimidazole, respectively.

While the occurrence of GenX, a novel alternative for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), in the environment and its cytotoxicity at high concentrations to thyroid cells are well documented, limited information is available regarding its impact at low concentrations. GenX is detected to be as low as 0.001 ng/mL in drinking water and 0.

Development and Evaluation of Non-Antibiotic Growth Promoters for Food Animals.

Vet Sci

December 2024

National Reference Laboratory of Veterinary Drug Residues (HZAU), Veterinary Medicine Research Center, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan 430070, China.

The widespread utilization of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) boosts the growth rate of food animals and enhances human living standards. Nevertheless, it is accompanied by escalating antibiotic resistance. Consequently, there is an urgent demand to develop novel alternatives to growth promoters.
