An approach for estimating asymptotic forest stand yield, basal area, and tree density (number of stems per unit of area) is proposed. Available forest stand growth data are used to establish the reciprocal equation of Competition-Density (C-D) effect and develop equations relating the coefficients of C-D effect to stand top height. Asymptotic stand yield, basal area, and tree density are derived based on bio-mathematical rationales and expressed as functions of asymptotic top height. Asymptotic top height can be obtained for different site qualities and/or habitat types by evaluating a height growth model in the limit as age approaches infinity. Estimated asymptotes can be utilized to parameterize sigmoid-shaped growth functions (e.g., Richards growth model) for developing forest growth and yield models.

This research proposes an all-metal metamaterial-based absorber with a novel geometry capable of refractive index sensing in the terahertz (THz) range. The structure consists of four concentric diamond-shaped gold resonators on the top of a gold metal plate; the resonators increase in height by 2 µm moving from the outer to the inner resonators, making the design distinctive. This novel configuration has played a very significant role in achieving multiple ultra-narrow resonant absorption peaks that produce very high sensitivity when employed as a refractive index sensor.

Objective: Single inhaler triple therapy is widely used in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma. This research aimed to analyze adverse events (AEs) associated with Budesonide/Glycopyrronium/Formoterol Fumarate (BUD/GLY/FOR) and Fluticasone Furoate/Umeclidinium/Vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI).
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study.

Owing to their high light absorption coefficient, excellent electronic mobility, and enhanced excitonic effect, two-dimensional (2D) GaN materials hold great potential for applications in optoelectronic and electronic devices. As the metal-semiconductor junction (MSJ) is a fundamental component of semiconductor-based devices, identifying a suitable metal for contacting semiconductors is essential. In this work, detailed first-principles calculations were performed to investigate the contact behavior between the GaN monolayer (ML) and a series of 2D metals MX (M = Nb, Ta, V, Mo, or W; X = S or Se).

Previous research has revealed that, during the late afternoon, the ozone (O3) concentration tends to elevate at the northern perimeter of Mount Everest (5200 m above sea level). This increase is attributed to the natural gradient of rising O3 concentration with height, exacerbated by the corresponding downstream mountain winds. Our recent field observations corroborate this finding, showing a consistent increase in O3 concentrations by approximately 13.

The Research Program () seeks to accelerate biomedical research and address the underrepresentation of minorities by recruiting over one million ethnically diverse participants across the United States. A key question is how self-identification with discrete, predefined race and ethnicity categories compares to genetic diversity at continental and subcontinental levels. To contextualize the genetic diversity in , we analyzed ~2 million common variants from 230,016 unrelated whole genomes using classical population genetics methods, alongside reference panels such as the 1000 Genomes Project, Human Genome Diversity Project, and Simons Genome Diversity Project.
