The aim of this work was to study depression and anxiety in outpatients of Family Practice, namely: definition of cases, caseness, point-prevalence, clinical features, correlations with social demographic factors and identification of risk groups for those psychological disorders. Therapeutic attitudes displayed by family practitioners were also evaluated. The results of the study reveal a high prevalence of depression in family medicine settings and a relative tendency of family doctors to underdiagnose case of depression. Such an evidence allows the authors to conclude that steps should be taken in order to provide training programs for family practitioners and to plan appropriate treatment programmes at public Health Centres.

Background: Alzheimer's disease neuropathology involves the deposition in brain of aggregates enriched with microtubule-binding-region (MTBR) of tau adopting an abnormal conformation between residues 306-378 in the core of aggregates. Anti-tau drugs targeting around this domain have the potential to interfere with the cell-to-cell propagation of pathological tau. Bepranemab is a humanized monoclonal Ig4 antibody binding to tau residues 235-250.

Background: The TREAT-AD centers aim to improve Alzheimer's Disease (AD) research by offering free, high-quality tools and technologies. Lyn is a tyrosine kinase that belongs to the Src family kinases. The expression of Lyn and its activity have been implicated in AD.

Background: TREM2 signaling has been implicated in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). TREM2 regulates microglial states and functions such as phagocytosis. The most prominent TREM signaling adapter is DAP12, encoded by TYROBP.

Background: Lyn kinase, a member of the Src family of tyrosine kinases, predominantly phosphorylates ITIM and ITAM motifs linked to immune receptors and adaptor proteins, and is emerging as a target for Alzheimer's disease (AD). The role of Lyn in TREM2-mediated microglial activation and phagocytosis, a critical pathway for clearing Aβ plaques, remains unclear and potent, selective, and brain penetrant Lyn inhibitors are unavailable. In this study, we report the characterization of Lyn kinase inhibitors from the literature as well as the establishment of an advanced virtual screening platform at the IUSM-Purdue-TREAT-AD center to identify new type II Lyn inhibitors suitable as molecular probes.

Background: People living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias confront numerous decisions that affect their wellbeing, as well as that of their family members. Research demonstrates the importance of family involvement in such decision making, yet there is a lack of knowledge about how patients and families work together to make decisions and how families can best provide decisional support.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted separately with 15 patients diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild dementia, identified through a National Institute on Aging-funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and 14 care partners.
