Metal oxides and metal oxide/carbon composites are entering the development of new technologies and should therefore to be prepared by sustainable chemistry processes. Therefore, a new aspect of the reactivity of cellulose is presented through its solid/gas reaction with vapour of titanium(IV) chloride in anhydrous conditions at low temperature (80 °C). This reaction leads to two transformations both for cellulose and titanium(IV) chloride. A reductive dehydration of cellulose is seen at the lowest temperature ever reported and results in the formation of a carbonaceous fibrous solid as the only carbon-containing product. Simultaneously, the in situ generation of water leads to the formation of titanium dioxide with an unexpected nanoplate morphology (ca. 50 nm thickness) and a high photocatalytic activity. We present the evidence showing the evolution of the cellulose and the TiO nanostructure formation, along with its photocatalytic activity. This low-temperature process avoids any other reagents and is among the greenest processes for the preparation of anatase and also for TiO /carbon composites. The anisotropic morphology of TiO questions the role of the cellulose on the growing process of these nanoparticles.

The conversion of diluted CO₂ into high-energy fuels is increasingly central to renewable energy research. This study investigates the efficacy of a Gd₂NiMnO₆ dendritic nanofibrous (DNF) photocatalyst in transforming carbon dioxide to methane through photoreduction. Gd₂NiMnO₆ DNF was found to provide active adsorption sites and control the strand dimensions for metal groups, facilitating the chemical absorption of CO₂.

Introduction: Rapid detection and identification of pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility is essential for guiding appropriate antimicrobial therapy and reducing morbidity and mortality associated with sepsis.
Objectives: The metabolic response of clinical isolates of Klebsiella oxytoca exposed to different concentrations of ciprofloxacin (the second generation of quinolones antibiotics) were studied in order to investigate underlying mechanisms associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Methods: Metabolomics investigations were performed using Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy as a metabolic fingerprinting approach combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for metabolic profiling.

Silicate fertilization is a common farming practice and an effective method to mitigate arsenic (As) pollution in paddy. Investigating the interaction between silicate and ferrihydrite on As retention is key to comprehensively understand the mechanism of As sequestration by silicate fertilization. Our results indicated that the transformation of ferrihydrite into goethite and hematite was inversely proportional to Si/Fe ratios.

We developed a protocol for the synthesis of functionalized pyrrolo[2,1-]isoquinoline derivatives (PIQDs) from enaminones using vinylene carbonate . This strategy involved [3 + 2] and [4 + 2] cycloadditions via heating a mixture of substrates with vinylene carbonate and DCE at 60 °C, catalyzed by [Cp*RhCl] and oxidized with Cu(OAc) and AgSbF promoted by NaOAc. As we increased the reaction temperature to 110 °C under the same conditions, we synthesized PIQDs through sequential C-H activation, alkene insertion, migratory insertion, C-N reductive elimination, β-O elimination, and finally dehydration.
