A novel bacterium, strain 1ZS3-15, was isolated from rhizosphere of rice. Its taxonomic position was investigated using a polyphasic approach. The novel strain was observed to be Gram-stain positive, spore-forming, aerobic, motile and rod-shaped. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain 1ZS3-15 was recovered within the genus Paenibacillus. It is closely related to Paenibacillus pectinilyticus KCTC 13222 (97.9 % similarity), Paenibacillus frigoriresistens CCTCC AB 2011150 (96.8 %), Paenibacillus alginolyticus JCM 9068 (96.4 %) and Paenibacillus chondroitinus DSM 5051 (95.5 %). The fatty acid profile of strain 1ZS3-15, which showed a predominance of anteiso-C and iso-C, supported the allocation of the strain into the genus Paenibacillus. The predominant menaquinone was found to be MK-7. The polar lipids profile of strain 1ZS3-15 was found to consist of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified lipid and two unidentified aminophospholipids. The cell wall peptidoglycan contains meso-diaminopimelic acid. Based on draft genome sequences, the DNA-DNA relatedness between strain 1ZS3-15 and the closely related species P. pectinilyticus KCTC 13222 are 24.2 ± 1.0 %, and the Average Nucleotide Identity values between the strains are 78.9 ± 0.1 %, which demonstrated that this isolate represents a new species in the genus Paenibacillus. The DNA G+C content was determined to be 45.3 mol%, which is within the range reported for Paenibacillus species. Characterisation by genotypic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic analysis indicated that strain 1ZS3-15 represents a novel species of the genus Paenibacillus, for which the name Paenibacillus oryzisoli sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 1ZS3-15 (= ACCC 19783 = JCM 30487).

Developing sustainable structural materials to replace traditional carbon-intensive structural materials fundamentally reshapes the concept of circular development. Herein, we propose an interface engineering strategy that utilizes water as a liquid medium to replace the residual air within natural wood. This approach minimizes the absorption of water-based softening agents by microcapillary channels of wood, enabling the controlled softening of the cell walls.

Recently, a new bacterial disease was detected on cucumber stalks. In order to study the pathogenesis of this disease, the pathogenic bacteria were isolated and identified on the basis of morphological and molecular characteristics, and further analyzed for pathogenicity and antagonistic evaluation. Pathogenicity analysis showed that HlJ-3 caused melting decay and cracking in cucumber stems, and the strain reisolated from re-infected cucumber stalks was morphologically identical to HlJ-3 colonies, which is consistent with the Koch's postulates.

Cognitive load stimulates neural activity, essential for understanding the brain's response to stress-inducing stimuli or mental strain. This study examines the feasibility of evaluating cognitive load by extracting, selection, and classifying features from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. We employed robust local mean decomposition (R-LMD) to decompose EEG data from each channel, recorded over a four-second period, into five modes.

Myocyte disarray and fibrosis are underlying pathologies of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) caused by genetic mutations. However, the extent of their contributions has not been extensively evaluated. In this study, we investigated the effects of genetic mutations on myofiber function and fibrosis patterns in HCM.
