In this Letter, the authors describe the characterisation design and development of the authors' wearable, multimodal vitals acquisition unit for intelligent field triage. The unit is able to record the standard electrocardiogram, blood oxygen and body temperature parameters and also has the unique capability to record up to eight custom designed acoustic streams for heart and lung sound auscultation. These acquisition channels are highly synchronised to fully maintain the time correlation of the signals. The unit is a key component enabling systematic and intelligent field triage to continuously acquire vital patient information. With the realised unit a novel data-set with highly synchronised vital signs was recorded. The new data-set may be used for algorithm design in vital sign analysis or decision making. The monitoring unit is the only known body worn system that records standard emergency parameters plus eight multi-channel auscultatory streams and stores the recordings and wirelessly transmits them to mobile response teams.

As artificial intelligence advances and demand for cost-effective equipment maintenance in various fields increases, it is worth insightful research on utilizing robots embedded with sound source localization (SSL) technology for condition monitoring. Combining the two techniques has significant advantages, which are conducive to further classifying and tracking abnormal sources, thereby enhancing system performance at a lower cost. The paper provides an overview of current acoustic-based robotic techniques for condition monitoring, highlights the common SSL methods, and finds that localization performance heavily depends on signal quality.

Mangrove-based carbon market projects (MbCMP) aim to conserve, protect and restore mangrove habitats in order to generate high quality blue carbon credits via a crediting program, as a contribution to climate change mitigation/adaptation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services provision and local socio-economic development. The blue carbon credits generated are transferable, verifiable and sold through carbon markets to earn additional income for governments and local communities. The main aim of the paper is to provide important considerations for pre-field planning, that is, how challenges associated with fieldwork, project implementation, and monitoring reporting and verification (MRV) can be addressed with proper pre-field planning.

The local electric field (LEF) plays an important role in the catalytic process; however, the precise construction and manipulation of the electric field microenvironment around the active site remains a significant challenge. Here, we have developed a supramolecular strategy for the implementation of a LEF by introducing the host macrocycle 18-crown-6 (18C6) into a cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc)-containing covalent organic framework (COF). Utilizing the supramolecular interaction between 18C6 and potassium ion (K), a locally enhanced K concentration around CoPc can be built to generate a LEF microenvironment around the catalytically active Co site.

Radiography is a field of medicine inherently intertwined with technology. The dependency on technology is very high for obtaining images in ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Although the reduction in radiation dose is not applicable in US and MRI, advancements in technology have made it possible in CT, with ongoing studies aimed at further optimization.
