This paper describes why "device state" and "patient context" information are necessary components of device models for safe interoperability. This paper includes a discussion of the importance of describing the roles of devices with respect to interactions (including human user workflows involving devices, and device to device communication) within a system, particularly those intended for use at the point-of-care, and how this role information is communicated. In addition, it describes the importance of clinical scenarios in creating device models for interoperable devices.

In-stent restenosis (ISR) following interventional therapy is a fatal clinical complication. Current evidence indicates that neointimal hyperplasia driven by uncontrolled proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) is a major cause of restenosis. This implies that inhibiting VSMC proliferation may be an attractive approach for preventing in-stent restenosis.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to propose a lateral oscillating device for the prevention of pressure ulcers by understanding the mechanisms of tissue protection in healthy individuals during prolonged decubitus. We also sought to determine the optimal time interval for oscillation, considering peak pressure peaks and tolerable pressure limits as a function of individual characteristics such as age, weight, height, gender, and BMI.
Methods: A quasi-experimental, descriptive and analytical observational study was conducted between January 2022 and June 2023 with a sample of 25 healthy volunteers.

Background: Benzodiazepine abuse remains a significant public health concern. Current sample preparation methods for benzodiazepine analysis from human serum often involve complex procedures that require large sample volumes and extensive organic solvent use. To address these limitations, this study presents a novel and efficient sample preparation method utilizing 3D-printed sorbent devices.

Background: Distinct classes of environmental contaminants - such as microplastics, volatile organic compounds, inorganic gases, hormones, pesticides/herbicides, and heavy metals - have been continuously released into the environment from different sources. Anthropogenic activities with unprecedented consequences have impacted soil, surface waters, and the atmosphere. In this scenario, developing sensing materials and analytical platforms for monitoring water and air quality is essential to supporting worldwide environmental control agencies.

Preventing recurrence of venous leg ulcers can be achieved through strongest tolerated compression and endo-venous ablation surgery, but it is not clear how often this is done in practice. This study explores (1) nurses' awareness of strongest tolerated compression and endo-venous ablation surgery as prophylactic treatments for venous leg ulcer, (2) how often these treatments are offered, and (3) assessment of the barriers and enablers to deploying those treatments using the capabilities, opportunities and motivations model of behaviour change. An online cross-sectional survey was conducted among nurses who treat and manage venous leg ulcers across the United Kingdom.
