Parkinson's disease affects nearly one in 500 people in the UK. Yet many people are misdiagnosed or remain undiagnosed for several years. And patients and carers can often struggle to find relevant information about the condition. While Parkinson's can affect people of all ages, it is primarily a disease of older people. 'The incidence increases sharply with age and 2 per cent of the population over 65 are affected,' explains Debbie Bolam, Parkinson's disease nurse specialist at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield (pictured).
