Focused Ion Beam milling combined with Scanning Electron Microscopy is a powerful tool to determine the 3-D organization of whole cells and tissue at an isotropic resolution of 3-5nm. This opens the possibility to quantify several cellular parameters and to provide detailed phenotypic information in normal or disease states. Here we describe Biocomputing methods to extract in an automated way characteristic features of mouse rod photoreceptor nuclei such as the shape and the volume of the nucleus; the proportion of heterochromatin; the number, density and distribution of nuclear pore complexes (NPC). Values obtained on five nuclei show that the number of NPC (348±8) is the most conserved feature. Nuclei in higher eukaryotes show large variations in size and rod nuclei are amongst the smallest reported (32±3μm). Despite large species- and cell-type-specific variations in size, the density of NPC (about 15/μm) is highly conserved.

The human skin and oral cavity harbor complex microbial communities, which exist in dynamic equilibrium with the host's physiological state and the external environment. This study investigates the microbial atlas of human skin and oral cavities using samples collected over a 10-month period, aiming to assess how both internal and external factors influence the human microbiome. We examined bacterial community diversity and stability across various body sites, including palm and nasal skin, saliva, and oral epithelial cells, during environmental changes and a COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly 32% of sand fly species recorded in Mexico are related to Leishmania transmission. A correct morphological identification of sand flies is essential to improve epidemiological and control strategies. Wing geometric morphometrics (GM) has proven to be a complementary tool for classical taxonomy, allowing us to explore variations in structure and shape between species.

Background: Critical analysis of studies with high level of evidence has relied on the significance set by the reported values. However, this strategy steers readers toward categorical interpretation of the data; therefore, a more comprehensive approach of data analysis is warranted. The continuous fragility index (CFI) allows for frailty interpretation of any given study's continuous outcome results.

Introduction: Existing evidence suggests a lower uptake of cervical cancer screening among Indian women. Coverage is lower in rural than urban women, but such disparities are less explored. So, the present study was conducted to explore the self-reported coverage of cervical cancer screening in urban and rural areas stratified by socio-demographic characteristics, determine the spatial patterns and identify any regional variations, ascertain the factors contributing to urban-rural disparities and those influencing the likelihood of screening among women aged 30-49 years factors residing in urban, rural, and overall Indian settings.
