Purpose: To evaluate the changes in the macular ganglion cell complex (GCC) thickness and central macular thickness (CMT) as measured by spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) post-argon laser panretinal photocoagulation (PRP).
Methods: The medical records of 25 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) who underwent PRP, 29 patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), and 29 patients with diabetes but without diabetic retinopathy (DR) were analyzed. The patients who received PRP were followed up for one year. The follow-up measurements were evaluated at baseline, and months 1, 6, and 12 post-argon laser PRP. The baseline values of CMT and GCC thickness were compared among the groups to assess changes with PRP therapy.
Results: The CMT gradually increased in months 1 and 6 and then decreased; however, it was significantly higher than the baseline value at month 12 in the PDR group post-PRP. The GCC thickness also increased at months 1 and 6 in almost all segments of the macula, but at month 12 decreased to the baseline value. There was no correlation between the increasing thickness of the macula and change in the GCC thickness post-PRP period in the PDR group. In addition, no significant correlation was detected between the GCC thickness and best-corrected visual acuity during all follow-up visits.
Conclusions: GCC thickness increased significantly until month 6 compared with baseline values in most of the macular segments post-PRP in the PDR group. The GCC thickness at month 12 was not different from the baseline thickness in any of the macular segments.

Background: Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA) is a hereditary optic neuropathy characterized by retinal ganglion cell degeneration and optic nerve fiber loss. This study examined the correlation between clinical and structural parameters in patients with ADOA using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and explored potential clinical biomarkers.
Methods: A cross-sectional, case-control observational study included 27 patients with ADOA and 27 age- and sex-matched healthy controls.

Conversion of caustic red mud (RM, Alumina industry waste) into building materials becoming one of the viable solution for its large scale utilization. The building materials developed using RM often results in efflorescence due to its high alkalinity, which is detrimental for the structural integrity of the buildings. The X-ray shielding tiles developed through ceramic route using the mixtures of RM, BaSO and kaolin clay also suffers from severe NaSO efflorescence when sintered above 1000 °C.

Although hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is used to treat systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), it is associated with retinal toxicity. Early diagnosis can prevent the further progression of HCQ-associated retinopathy by discontinuing HCQ treatments. This study aimed to evaluate the early diagnostic parameters in patients with SLE treated with HCQ and identify the best approach using multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) and swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) to reflect subclinical retinal toxicity.

Background: Pregabalin abuse is a rapidly growing health problem worldwide, and little is known about the effects of prolonged high-dose use in patients with pregabalin use disorder.
Objective: In this study, the effects of pregabalin abuse on retinal layers were investigated in patients with pregabalin use disorder (PGUD).
Methods: This study included 35 controls and 34 patients with PGUD, according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)-5 criteria.
